Pantone Color of the Year: Ultra-Violet

February 19, 2018

One of the most thrilling parts of home buying is getting to put your own personal flair into the home decor. Entire television, magazine, and blog empires have been built upon this very thought. After the buying and selling has closed, it’s time to decorate, and there’s no more fun place to start than with paint.

Each year, Pantone releases the Color of the Year. Clothing brands, beauty products, and home decor lines design their seasonal collections all around this singular color in a desire to stay on trend, usually met with tons of success.

The color for 2018 is ‘Ultra-Violet’! Often described as “blurple,” Ultra Violet is just that: an interesting blend of deep blues and rich purples. If you asked ten people on the street what color they were looking at, surely half would say purple and half would say blue.

It’s a bold, exciting color. Need ideas on how to incorporate Ultra-Violet into your space? Look for quick, easy options like painting your front door, one accent wall in a room, or your ceiling. Don’t want to do anything with paint? No problem! Accent with throw pillows, a wreath on your front door, or a new statement art piece above your fireplace mantle.
