Mark your calendars: Two chances to give back

August 28, 2017

There are two charitable events coming up in September in the towns of Concord and Cornelius.

* Eleven Lakes Brewing is hosting its annual “Hops for Hope” fundraiser benefitting the Hope House Foundation and is looking for vendors, sponsors and interested participants.

The event is from 1 p.m. to 5 p.m. Saturday, Sept. 23 at Eleven Lakes Brewing, 10288 Bailey Road.

The fundraiser will feature food trucks, music and artist exhibits. The event will also feature a raffle of donated vendor items.

All proceeds will go toward Huntersville-based Hope House Foundation, which provides safe, short-term living for homeless women and children.

* A collaboration between the American Red Cross and the Carolina Renaissance Festival is bringing together knights, princesses and peasants to give the gift of life on Sunday, Sept. 3 at Cannon School.

From 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. at 5801 Poplar Tent Road, donors can give a pint of blood and enjoy appearances from local Ren Fest performers. Donors are encouraged to also join in the spirit and come in costume.

The first 100 donors will receive a free ticket to Carolina Renaissance Festival. RenFest runs 8 weekends on Saturday and Sunday beginning Sept. 30 through Nov. 19.

Call 800-REDCROSS, or visit and enter sponsor code “CarRenFest” for more information or to schedule your appointment for donation.
