Cornelius ranks on MSN list of top lake towns
Small town Cornelius made big news recently when MSN named the 15-square-mile town to its list of Best Lake Towns in the United States.
Cornelius made the list of 11 best lake towns for its proximity to metropolitan Charlotte and big city amenities while maintaining its laid-back lakeside lifestyle.
Visitors and residents alike can take in the miles of Lake Norman shoreline and enjoy the amenities in Jetton and Ramsey Creek parks, which include walking trails, a swimming beach, tennis courts, playgrounds and picnic areas.
Couples planning to exchange vows can do so in the park’s Jetton Wedding Gazebo and host a reception for up to 75 people in the Waterfront Hall. Mecklenburg County Commissioners voted unanimously to elimiate weekend entrance fees to the park.
From 2000 to 2010, Cornelius grew in population by more than 100%. The N.C. Office of State Budget and Management most recent estimate in 2015 put the Cornelius population at at nearly 29,500. The top three employers for Cornelius residents are Charlotte Mecklenburg Schools, YMCA and The Home Depot.
Cornelius is also a bustling haven for an eclectic festival and arts scene as well as local microbreweries, such as D9 and Bayne Brewing.
With so much to do and see, it’s no wonder Cornelius ranks high for lake towns!
